Connection
Humans long for connection in some capacity. Connecting to others is a necessity of human life. The buildings erected strive to create a space of connection for the young and the old, the visitor and resident, the minority and the majority, and most of all a stranger and a stranger. The two building were purposefully split up to achieve this goal. The buildings were separated in order to create unity in-between them. The building mimic one another form to create a strong connection between the two. Inside this connection space are four gathering spaces. The largest of the gathering spaces is the Outdoor performance stage. This space creates an atmosphere that brings in large groups of people under one artist or cause, connecting to one another. Where-as the other three spaces are more personal and closed off. Created to encourage intentional conversation and small group gatherings. These spaces push toward continual growth in relationships. The West building contains the Bluegrass Café where high ceilings and flexibility provide another unique atmosphere of connection. The parking lot contains two more gathering spaces under pavilions. Each space has its own unique purpose to encourage connection on a deeper level.

The buildings also encourage connection to the environment as they push toward sustainability. The two buildings contain 100 solar panels distributed between them. These solar panels Provide more than the necessary 25% solar energy requires. The two buildings also maintain a 78% building efficiency.
